Spent the night in a hotel where I usually don’t sleep as well. I woke up every couple of hours because the bed wasn’t so comfortable so feeling a little tired today. I’m not at home so I don’t have the dogs to walk which feels a little odd. I did yoga this morning instead before heading out to the football game which felt good.
We ate an early lunch at Yardhouse today. I took 6 Betaine HCL, 4 Ultra digestive enzymes, 2 gluten/dairy enzymes and 1 Digestion GB which is an enzyme mixed with Ox Bile to help with fat digestion since I don’t have a gallbladder. I ate a lettuce wrapped burger with avocado and steamed asparagus. The asparagus wasn’t pureed and the lettuce is more advanced on the SCD so I was a bit out of order with food but had to make due as I wasn’t at home.
The avocado was my new food introduction for today. I felt a bit full about an hour after eating but didn’t get the very uncomfortable feeling I usually get when I eat a high fat meal. I believe that the enzymes are helping and what my body was lacking. I won’t make a habit of eating more advanced foods but sometimes you have to just make the best of the situation.
The football stadium doesn’t let any outside food in but I was able to smuggle in an Epic Bar for a snack during the game. I was glad that I did because I did get hungry. After the game I definitely felt fuller then I have for the past few days and a little sore in my liver area which makes sense since I ate more fat at lunch. At least I know why I’m feeling that way which is a little win for me.
For dinner we went to a seafood place and I had fish with steamed spinach and zucchini. Again the veggies weren’t pureed so may be tougher on my gut than what I’ve been used to. I took 5 Betaine HCL, 4 ultra digestive enzymes and 2 gluten/dairy enzymes with dinner to help. We’ll see.
After 34 days on SCD I definitely think that my system is doing better than when I started but know that I am nowhere near healed so can’t have another day of going off plan. We’ll be home tomorrow so it will be easier. This week may be a challenge though because there are a few days that I have to eat out. I will keep it as simple as possible and stay stocked up on digestive enzymes.
I have to say that at least for me they have been extremely helpful. If you haven’t tried them and are experiencing bloating, gas, diarrhea or undigested food in your poop, I would highly recommend talking to your healthcare provider about trying them.
